The Winter's Tale

The Winter's Tale Summary | Act 1, Scene 1 Summary

Camillo, a lord of Sicilia and Archidamus, a lord of Bohemia enter the state. Archidamus invites Camillo for a visit to Bohemia. He continues, saying that although Bohemia's entertainment may be lacking, they will make up for it with drinks and love for their friends from Sicilia. Camillo explains that he thinks their respective two kings will soon conduct a long overdue visit to each other. He explains that while the kings of the two regions had grown up together, forging a strong friendship, they have been unable, due to royal obligations, to see each other in some time. Yet, they still have a mutual affection for each other. Camillo and Archidamus then express their mutual admiration of, and confidence in, the young Prince of Sicilia, Maxillius.
